What is Stand Up Paddleboarding?
Stand Up Paddleboarding (SUP) is a combination of surfing and kayaking. SUP is the fastest growing water sport. SUP is a great way to spend some time on the water while getting a full-body workout that improves your core strength, cardio fitness, balance, and flexibility. It is so much fun that you may forget that you are excercising.
Who should try it?
People of all ages and fitness levels can try the SUP. Whatever the conditions of the day, you can enjoy an exciting experience at a comfortable level. The calm, flat water of clearwater bay is perfect for beginners. The gulf is usually calm as well. For the adventurous, you are in for a treat when the waves appear. There is nothing like paddlesurfing!
Stand up paddle boarding originated in Hawaii (in the Hawaiian language the sport is called Hoe He'e Nalu). The sport dates back to the 1950's and 1960's. It started as a way for surfing instructors to watch their students and photographers to snap better photos of surfers. Today SUP has gone mainstream, and SUP yoga may be the next big trend on the board!.
